Imagine Not Knowing Where Your Next Meal Will Come FromSadly, many of our neighbors don't need to imagine. 1 in 7 Coloradans wonder where their next meal will come from. These are people you meet everyday- the working poor, children, seniors on fixed incomes, those with health issues - surprisingly the homeless only represent 14% of clients who receive our food. Nearly half of our clients are children.
Today, FBR has extended its reach across Northern Colorado and Wyoming, providing food supplies to more than 1200 hunger-relief programs. Since 1978, FBR has provided nearly 431 million pounds of food to our member agencies, which translates to more than 336 million meals for people in need. Last year, we distributed 39.4 million pounds of food, enough to provide 84,000 meals each day to children, seniors and families in need. FBR is a member of Feeding America. FBR has a staff of 98 employees at warehouses in Denver, Wyoming, and the Western Slope. Additionally FBR has a pool of more than 7900 volunteers who last year donated 102,000 hours of time - the equivalent of 49 full-time employees! We run an efficient organization, using only about 4 cents of every dollar for administration. 96 cents of every dollar contributed goes towards food. And every dollar provides four meals. FBR’s Board of Directors is made up of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time and expertise.

Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) is the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state of Colorado. Founded in 1978, FBR was known as the Colorado Food Clearing House. Operating from a 900-square-foot schoolroom in Northwest Denver, the fledgling organization collected food from nearby Safeway stores and distributed it to one agency.
